USB2.0-CRW driver download [SOLVED]

Recently I came across a new Unknown Device while performing a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x64 on a Lenovo desktop:

USB 2.0-CRW(Card Reader) in device manager

USB 2.0-CRW(Card Reader) in device manager

Thankfully,it was fairly easy to determine that ‘CRW’ stands for ‘card reader’ and find the correct driver here:

Realtek card reader driver2012 (found on Lenovo laptops – download from Lenovo site) for USB2.0-CRW also works without problems on Win7 Ultimate SP1 2014 – e.g. Dell Inspiron 15 3531 (x64 – “downgraded” from pre-installed Win8.1, for personal convenience of use – Dell doesn’t provide such a driver because of business with Microsoft).

I suppose it works on all Inspiron’s equipped with CRW…

Hi. I’m having a heck of a time finding the driver for usb 2.0 crw realtek for dell with windows 10. It and a few other usbs are without drivers, though they seem unessential. Yet something is making my internet reception incredibly slow, and using a huge amount of RAM, butnothing visible.

Hey Saul, for a Dell with Windows 10 the Realtek USB 2.0 card reader driver is usually available on Dell’s support site under your specific model. Go to dell.com/support, enter your service tag, and look under the Chipset or Storage category for the card reader driver. The slow internet and high RAM usage are likely unrelated to the card reader, though. I’d check Task Manager to see what process is consuming the RAM.
