Hello JD.
I have downloaded the file from the Intel site but I cannot install it because the system says that I dont have any admin rights. This is very strange because my user account is an admin account.. Do you have any idea how could I solve this problem? Is it possible that my account appears as an administrator but in fact is its functions still deactivated? My operating system is Win 8.1 .
Thank you in advance
Harry
Sorry for the late reply, Harry! The “no admin rights” error even on an admin account is actually pretty common in Windows 8.1. The fix is to right-click the installer and choose “Run as administrator” rather than double-clicking it, since Windows 8.1 doesn’t always elevate privileges automatically even for admin accounts. If that still fails, try right-clicking the installer, going to Properties > Compatibility, and checking “Run this program as an administrator.” That usually does the trick.
Thanks JD,
It worked for me, great information.
Glad to hear it Tony!
Have a great weekend 🙂

The last link isn’t working anymore. Can you please provide us another link?
Hey Bruna, sorry about the dead link. Intel has reorganized their download center a few times since that post was written. Try searching for “Intel Smart Connect Technology driver” directly on Intel’s Download Center at downloadcenter.intel.com and filter by your operating system. That should get you to the current download.
Ok for : Asrock Z68 Extreme4 – MS Windows 10 – 64b

Hello JD, I tried to use the driver for ACPI\INT33A0 from the (dl link) . It downloaded ok and executed the program, followed the prompts I was asked to choose from : select the way you want features to be installed ; ISCT Agent or ISCT GUI. Here I got stuck do not know which to choose, can you help?
I built my desktop PC about 3 years ago running windows 7 ultimate. Recently I had to change the MB and did fresh install of windows7 when I found the missing driver comment for a unknown device in Device Manager.
I never had this problem before hence the request for help, thank you.
Regards, Istvan Hajdar
Hey Istvan, for a desktop PC you’d want the ISCT Agent rather than the ISCT GUI. The Agent is the background service that actually does the work (syncing data while the system is in sleep/standby), while the GUI is just a control panel interface. On a desktop the GUI is less useful anyway since Intel Smart Connect is mainly designed for mobile/ultrabook scenarios, but installing the Agent should clear the unknown device warning in Device Manager.
Thanks mate. It’s work very well. Best regards from Poland.
Glad it helped! Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙂

I got a 2018 MacBook Pro.After switching to windows 10 pro n using bootcamp i found that there was an unknown driver with this ID : ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_34BA And i can’t update it.Can you guys help me?
Hey Imad, the ACPIVEN_INT&DEV_34BA is a different device ID from the INT33A0 covered in this post, so the Intel Smart Connect driver probably won’t fix it. For a MacBook Pro running Windows via Boot Camp, that ID is likely related to an Apple-specific system management controller component. I’d check the Apple Boot Camp support page for updated Windows 10 drivers for your specific MacBook Pro model, as Apple periodically releases Boot Camp driver packages that cover these kinds of unknown devices.
Thanks for posting, Worked right off the bat. Upgrading with fresh install win 10. (6) unknown devices..now (5)
Excellent Timoteo! It is always nice when you are unable to eliminate Unknown Devices on a fresh install of Windows. Good luck with the rest!
Best regards,
-J.D.
Device ACPI\INT33A0\0 requires further installation No longer a problem. Thank you very much
No problem! Thanks for commenting, Have a great day and happy holidays! 👍
Best regards,

Hello, wondering if there is a way to fix this on my old Z77 ASRock motherboard and using Windows 11. The unknown device is: ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0
and the Intel Smart Technology does not appear to be available for Windows 11. Any idea how I might get that Unknown Device to become “known”?
Hey Chris, you’re right that Intel Smart Connect is not supported on Windows 11 and Intel has officially discontinued it. Unfortunately there’s no clean way to make that Unknown Device “known” on Windows 11 with an older Z77 board, since Intel simply never released a compatible driver. The good news is that it’s completely harmless to leave it as an unknown device in Device Manager. It won’t cause any instability or performance issues, it’s just cosmetically annoying. Some people hide it in Device Manager (right-click > Disable device) just to get rid of the yellow flag.
