Fix Chrome blurry fonts on Lenovo Yoga 2 13

One of the first things I do on a new laptop is install Google Chrome. Sadly, Chrome and Windows 8 do not play well on even moderately high-resolution laptop screens 🙁 Case in point, my new Lenovo Yoga 2 13 (not the pro model) has a 1920×1080 13.3″ display which is fairly pedestrian by today’s pixel density standards. Regardless, Chrome fonts look very blurry when compared to IE or most other Win8 applications. Solution: adjust Chrome properties Go to Desktop

Windows 8 disable left swipe (Yoga 2 Pro etc.)

In Windows 8 left swipe is fine for touchscreens, but it is majorly annoying with touchpads 🙁 Thankfully, on laptops like the Lenovo Yoga 2 and Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro it is fairly easy to disable the edge swipe recognition on the trackpad: #1 Open the Synaptics Pointing Device Properties Detailed instructions: at the Windows 8 desktop look at the taskbar notification area (bottom of the screen, right-hand side of the taskbar). Find the Synaptics icon which looks like a small

Upgrade X220/X230 wifi, WWAN blue/red cables usable?

If you are upgrading the wifi card on your Lenovo X220 or X230 ThinkPad, you may only have two antennas (black and white) pre-wired for wifi. If you have a wifi card with three antenna connectors, you may think you are out of luck 🙁 Actually, if your X220 or X220 has an unused red & blue antenna connector (originally for WWAN cellular card) you can use one of those for your upgraded wifi card! 🙂 Please note that the

SD cards for the Yoga 2 Pro that don’t stick out as much

In general, the Yoga 2 Pro is an excellent upgrade over the original Yoga 13. One of the few drawbacks of the Pro 2 is that Lenovo made it so normal SD cards stick out (rather than sitting flush like on the original Yoga). Thankfully, there are some shorter SD cards that meant to at least partially resolve this issue. Which X220 USB port is the USB 3.0 one? [SOLVED]

Q.Which X220 USB port is the USB 3.0 compatible? A. It is the ‘blue’* one, the rearmost USB port located on the left side of the laptop near the fan exhaust vent. You can see a photo of the port here: The other two ‘black’ ports are regular USB 2.0 ports. *Please note only the i7 X220’s have a USB 3.0 port, the i3 and i5 models do not 🙁 If you have an X220 i3 or i5 model and

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga, Fn key fix w/function lock

Updated for 2023: The Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga defaults to having all the function (F1-F12) keys perform their alternate behavior (media controls, brightness, etc.) and not their traditional ‘function’ key behavior. For example, if you want to refresh a web page by pressing F5 you must simultaneously press and hold the Fn key, otherwise the key will function as ‘decrease brightness’ . What is even more annoying to me is trying to close a tab by pressing Ctrl+F4 (and it not
