LG G Pad 8.3 GPE vs. iPad Mini Retina vs. Google Nexus 7 FHD

Santa Claus brought an LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition tablet early this years. To me the display is perhaps the most important aspect of a tablet, so here is a how it stacks up versus some competitors: Tablet Model Release Date Diagonal Screen Size Total Screen Area (Dimensions) Resolution Aspect Ratio Pixels Per Inch (PPI)  LG G Pad 8.3 2013 8.3″ 30.96 square inches (7″x4.4″) 1920×1200 16:10 (8:5) 272.79 Apple iPad Mini (2nd Generation) 2013 7.9″ 29.96 square inches

Make Amazon MP3 stores downloads on SD card

I have been investigating the best way to have Amazon’s Android MP3 player store music downloads on a MicroSD card (instead of internal storage). So far reports are somewhat conflicting… I hope to have some better, and definitive, news to report soon! Amazon MP3 won’t save music files to SD Cardhttp://androidforums.com/incredible-support-troubleshooting/250489-amazon-mp3-wont-save-music-files-sd-card.htmlWhen the HTC Incredible was first launched, it did not include the Amazon MP3 app. However, I was able to find it on the web and install it. At that

Nexus 7 FHD (2013) vs GPad 8.3 vs iPad Mini

LG is preparing to release their new G Pad 8.3 Android tablet with a nice 1920×1200 resolution, of course Google’s new 1920×1080 Nexus 7 has been out for a while now and Apple’s iPad Mini is looking absolutely outdated. Both resolutions on the Android tablets are are very nice, but how about screen area and actual PPI: Manufacturer and model name Year introduced Screen size Screen area Resolution Ratio PPI Google Nexus 7 (2013) 2013 7″ 20.94 square inches (6.1″x3.4″)

New Google Nexus 7 Hands On (2013 edition)

Yesterday while stopping into Best Buy I was surprised to see a new Nexus 7 in the tablet section. After playing with the device for a while I came away unimpressed. It is a solid device 🙂 but the screen was not as overwhelmingly good as I expected 🙁 Perhaps the biggest problem for me was that my Samsung Galaxy Note 2’s display actually seemed brighter and it was also not that much smaller than the Nexus7: Google Nexus 7 (2013) 2013

Nook HD+ Review at $149 price point (and N2A/RootMyNook)

With the recent price drop to $149 and the announcement that B&N will not be making new color tablets, there are a lot of questions out there about the Nook HD and Nook HD+. This is my placeholder for my full Nook HD+ review, where I hope to answer some of those questions 🙂 Sections will be added below: Let me begin by saying that $149 buys you a LOT tablet and there are a number of tweaks to help

Recommendation: Buy a Nook HD or Nook HD+ at $129/$149

While B&N has recently shut down their tablet manufacturing operations, the Nook HD and Nook HD+ are still available for purchase. What makes the two tablets even more delectable are their new prices: $129 for the Nook HD and $149 for the Nook HD+. The Nook HD+ is my favorite, with a resolution of 1920×1280 but even the HD has a nice 7″ 1440×900 resolution display. When I took a look at the Nook HD+ around Christmas time it really
