Nexus 7 FHD (2013) vs GPad 8.3 vs iPad Mini

LG is preparing to release their new G Pad 8.3 Android tablet with a nice 1920×1200 resolution, of course Google’s new 1920×1080 Nexus 7 has been out for a while now and Apple’s iPad Mini is looking absolutely outdated. Both resolutions on the Android tablets are are very nice, but how about screen area and actual PPI:

Manufacturer and model name Year introduced Screen size Screen area Resolution Ratio PPI
Google Nexus 7 (2013) 2013 7″ 20.94 square inches (6.1″x3.4″) 1920×1080 16:9 314.70
LG G Pad 8.3 2013 8.3″ 30.96 square inches (7″x4.4″) 1920×1200 8:5 (16:10) 272.79
Apple iPad Mini 2012 7.85″ 29.58 square inches (6.3″x4.7″) 1024×768 4:3 163.06

The LG Pad 8.3 offers a substantial increase in screen area and the PPI is not that much lower than the Nexus 7 FHD. If LG can release the GPad with a reasonable price, $299 would be awesome, then display wise it looks to be a great holiday tablet 🙂
