Overclocking a Dell M4400 [success] [HOWTO]

Last night I stably overclocked my Dell M4400 from 2.8GHz to 2.9Ghz using ThrottleStop and the dual IDA (Intel Dynamic Acceleration) mode. The laptop is still running coolly and the WEI score for the CPU even went up from 6.4 to 6.5 🙂 My understanding is that IDA is basically TurboBoost in an earlier form. So it is pretty darn cool to be using a precursor of TurboBoost on a laptop this old! PS I plan on posting step by

M6500 hard drive caddy issue (three hard drives or SSDs)

For a few months now I have been using my M6500 with a 120GB SSD for the boot drive and two 750GB 2.5″ hard drives in RAID1 for my data drive. Unfortunately, the hard drive caddy that replaces the optical drive has never quite fit right… only today did I get around to contacting the manufacturer: Hello, I am writing in reference to this caddy that I ordered: http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=269&zenid=a40e0509f6a549136fc1331174bebbea That 2nd hard drive caddy for my M6500 has never quite

Difference between Push2TV PTV1000 vs PTV2000 HD?! WiDi 1 & 2?! [answered]

Q. Got new laptop with WiDi in it… now looking for adapter to hookup to my bigscreen LCD TV. I see lots of PVT1000 on eBay for pretty cheap but the PTV2000 is like twice as much?! What is the difference plz… –Rich A. Good question. The PTV1000 was one of the first WiDi receivers ever produced and it was launched with Intel’s WiDi 1.0 and 2010 CPUs. WiDi 1.0 supports only 720p and thus the PTV1000 only supports 720p

Learning about Bitcoin mining

You’ve probably read some sensational news stories about Bitcoin mining, I know I have . 🙂 However, I had lunch with a buddy last month in Tulsa and it really altered my view on Bitcoin mining. I already had an abstract idea about random people out there using CPU/GPU computing power to generate blocks to continue the growth of Bitcoins, what I didn’t realize was that my buddy knew a guy that was sinking big bucks into a personal Bitcoin
