AnandTech – AMD Updates Brazos with E-450, E-300 and C-60 APUshttp://www.anandtech.com/show/4660/amd-updates-brazos-with-e450-e300-and-c60-apusToday we get the first official update to the platform. Although not a major architectural or process change, the Brazos refresh is significant nonetheless.
At the top we’ve got the AMD E-450 […] replaces the E-350 […] E-300 [dual core], this replaces the single-core E-240. […] The final update in AMD’s Brazos refresh is the 9W C-60. The C-60 replaces the C-50 before it.
Update: 2011.Aug.16th 14″ laptop from MSI with new A-450 Brazos APU!

Updated: 2011.Feb.16th two new mini-itx boards added (thanks John) and they’re even available to order today! Feb.6th with new Toshiba laptop with AMD “E240” fusion CPU
AMD’s new Fusion/Brazos platform is an exciting step up for entry level computing. Previously, an Intel Atom required supplemental graphics help from NVIDIA in the form of Ion. Now, for the first time, one manufacturer provides a complete solution for entry level computing, gaming and HTPC activities:
- computing – web surfing, email, word processing (Intel Atom already does this) with the addition of Adobe Flash acceleration (which still has a few bugs to be worked out)
- gaming – many recent 3D games fully playable at low to medium settings (previously required Intl Atom + NVIDIA Ion)
- home theatre PC (HTPC) – good video decoding for most video tasks, including 1080p video
You can read a great introduction to one of the first Brazos motherboards here:
The E-350 (codename Zacate) is the initial higher performance part with an 18 watt TDP (thermal design power).
The C-Series (codename Ontario) is the lower power part with a TDP of 9 watts.

I’m looking forward to the boards with the E-350 being available, they look absolutely perfect for a HTPC. I wish they would have launched with mini itx boards being available around the same time (within a week), still no word when they will be available :(.
I’m looking forward to even more listings here, particularly the 9 watt, C-50 chipsets.
I hear you John, the mini-itx boards should be awesome for home theater PCs and even simple gaming/surfing systems :-).
Nord, I’ll be keeping an eye out for C-50 systems as they come out! There’s a new Acer one listed right now, and there should be many more on the way as the C50 seems very popular!
So far, the only motherboard you can get (in the US) is a micro-atx board with the E350, Newegg had it, but it’s already sold out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131697&Tpk=zacate
Thanks for the link John. They sure sold out quickly! The board looks nice but, like you, I’d much rather have a mini-itx form factor ;-).
Heads up, Newegg has some mini ITX boards finally, the Gigabyte one and an ASRock one: http://www.newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?description=zacate&Submit=ENE&Ntk=all&N=0&DisplayStyle=1&page=0&sourceid=Mozilla-search
Thanks John. The list has been updated :-).
Newegg finally has the E35M1-I DELUXE ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131698&cm_re=zacate-_-13-131-698-_-Product ) but man are they asking a price premium for it.
