Pearl RearVision Auto Reset (rear view camera)
NOTE: as of late 2018, it appears these steps may no longer work π They are still listed here for reference purposes, in the even that Pearl decides to fix the issue!
Having trouble connecting to your RearVision?
To recover your password or fix connectivity issues just perform this quick reset. Please note that it is a very time sensitive process.
You need to make sure you are on the latest version of the Pearl RearVision App (and cannot be on a beta version). The App Version should be 1.5 or later. You should then unplug the OBD adapter and wait exactly two minutes. Next, plug the adapter back and wait exactly 3 minutes. At this point open the Pearl App (version 1.5 or later) and begin setup. The OBD adapter will automatically share its Wi-Fi password with the app.
Please, you should also make sure you write down this password in case you ever need it in the future.
Tip: When charging your RearVision through the USB port make sure that it is not plugged in upside down

Thank you, amazingly this worked to get my password!
Dear Cinde,
I am very glad these instructions helped you. π
Best regards,

No problem! Have a great day!! ππ
JD, Thanks for posting this. I tried the steps listed above. Where would I see the password displayed?
Hi kk,
Thank you for your comment. The password should be displayed in your phone’s app.
Best regards,
-J.D.
doesn’t work
App just spins the searching icon and says unable to find camera
no matter how many times you plug/unplug wait, use perfect timing with a stopwatch, reset everything, turn everything on off multiple times, etc.
Tried everything, it just doesn’t work.
Who designs software this badly? why not put the code in the instructions?
dumb design. getting my money back.
Do you know if this changed? I tried this many times but isnβt working.
Alison, yes, I think it may have changed. That is why I added the note at the top of the post saying the reset steps no longer seemed reliable in late 2018.
Hi
Thanks for the posting on resetting the pearl passcode.
I tried your method. It is still not working. my version is 1.5
Appreciate any help.
Al, if you are on version 1.5 and it still will not recover, I think you have probably hit the same issue I noted at the top of the post. By late 2018 the old reset method no longer seemed dependable.
Does this still work? I canβt get mine to do it.
Pk, maybe not anymore. I left the instructions up for reference, but I added the note because the process stopped working reliably for a lot of people.
Didnβt work for me tried it a couple of times
Dear Stephen,
Thank you for your comment. I believe you are correct, it seems Pearl has changed something and these steps may no longer work π
Best regards,
-J.D.
My pearl rear view camera, was working great for awhile. But it stop and can’t connect, it says “Authencation error
Charles, an authentication error usually points to the Wi-Fi password or pairing process, and the frustrating part is that Pearl’s old reset flow stopped working reliably. If the app and reset steps do not clear it, I am not sure there is a clean fix anymore.
Pearl has gone out of business as of about June 2017 and I donβt know who to talk to about my system. My system will not recharge by solar or USB. Can the battery be replaced. No light comes on when it is supposed to be charging. Is the battery a standard type or custom mfg.?
Gerald, I am not sure about the exact battery type, and with Pearl out of business I do not know of an official replacement source. If it will not charge by solar or USB and no light comes on, it could be the battery or the charging circuit, which may make a local electronics repair shop your best bet.
I transferred a Pearl from my old car to a new one, putting it on the front as it came with a back-up camera installed. It seems the parts have to re-learn their connectivity but it worked after a couple of attempts. My only problem is the display is left-right switched but OK to warn me of low obstructions where I can’t see in front.
Dear Ray, I am very happy you were able to use your Pearl camera as a front view camera! π
Have a GREAT weekend and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
Best regards,
-J.D.
I bought a pear rear vision camera and it was so easy to install. I put the password in and said there was no wifi. Does this work on Bluetooth and does it have to be synched to my ar or just my phone. I just can no get it to sync p. Would the battery bein not charged stop me from connecting.
Philip, it connects by Wi-Fi to the phone, not by Bluetooth, and the car itself is not really the device it syncs with. A completely dead unit could definitely stop the connection process, so I would make sure it is actually taking a charge first.
hello
there is anyway i can found out my wifi password? i forgot to write down the password.
so i contact pearl. but never response.
Cme, if you forgot the Wi-Fi password and Pearl never replied, I do not know a supported way to recover it now beyond the reset process in the post. Unfortunately that old process stopped working reliably, which is why I added the note at the top.
It appears that you are correct.
After many attempts at connecting the camera to my I-phone, I have not been successful.
Dear Roy,
Thank you for sharing your efforts. I am sorry that Pearl RearVision is no longer working. π
Best regards,
-J.D.
I purchased the Pearl Rear Vision Camera but cannot connect to the app link for android. When I click on the app link in Pearl’s website there is nothing there.
Do you know how I can download the app for my Samsung Android phone?
Ray, with Pearl gone, the official app links disappeared for a lot of people. I am not sure of a trustworthy Android source now, so I would be very cautious about random APK sites.
Dear J.D.:
I recently purchased two of the Pearl RearVision license plate cameras.
To my dismay Apple deleted the IOS App.
I called Apple and spoke to a high level manager who in the end is not willing to restore the Apple app or send me the app so that I can synch it from my computer to my phone.
Apple did say: If I can find someone to send me the App file I can synch it myself. Hence this long request. Are you willing to send me a copy of the App to my email below in the contact information? In order to do this you would need to backup your phone to your computer and then send only the app.
I poked around looking for another app that might interface with the Pearl Wifi, thus far I did not find anything.
Thank you for any help you might be able to send my way. Bill T. :–)
William, I am sorry, but I cannot help distribute the iOS app file, and I do not have a clean way to provide it. With the app removed and Pearl gone, I do not know a supported path left for those units.
