Unknown Device “ACPI ENE0100” download Windows 7 driver (HP)

Question from Charley C.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7. I really like the laptop but I have the following annoying unknown device listed in device manager:
ACPI\ENE0100  *ENE0100 Can you help me find the right driver? Many thanks in advance.

Answer.  The ACPI\ENE0100 is generally the “ENE CIR Receiver”, you can download the driver here:

Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit: HP download link page or [download id=”10473″ format=”1″]
Vista: HP download link page or [download id=”10471″ format=”1″]
Also, could you rate on a scale of 1 to 5 how helpful this driver was to you?

Follow-up Q. from Charley C.

Thanks a million! That driver worked and now I am all set. One question though… what the heck is a CIR Receiver? And rate 4.5 out of 5 very good rating 🙂 [starreview tpl=16]

Follow-up Answer. Glad the driver worked and solver your problem! CIR stands for “consumer infrared receiver” and I believe ENE is the manufacturer of the chip used in the receiver. Thank you for your rating!

More info:

Driver should also work for HP Pavilion dv1030us and probably the dv61230us.

Since 1 week I am bearing with a nagging issue: ” Unknown device under Universal serial bus controller in device manager” with a yellow triangle. I performed these steps:-

    1. Tried Updation via on line search but showing “the best driver is already installed”.

    2. Tried Updation via ” Browse My Computer for driver software but showing Code:43 error”

    3. Tried uninstalling but with every restart it automatically came back with a notification” Device Driver Software is not successfully installed”

    4. At last I went for formatting my laptop hp “dv4-2106tx” but the problem is still there.

    5. I also tweaked battery power option advanced settings but no result.

    6. Windows updation could not could not resolve this issue.

I need to get rid of this nagging issue. If any body want to have a remote accress then i am also ready.

Hey Adhiraj, the ACPI ENE0100 driver in my post is for the HP ENE CIR receiver, but your issue sounds different, a “USB Unknown Device” with a yellow triangle under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is a separate problem. The Code 43 error specifically usually means the device itself reported an error to Windows. Since reinstalling and even a full format didn’t fix it, it may be a hardware issue with that specific USB port or an internal chip. I’d suggest running HP’s own diagnostic tools (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics) to test the USB controller. If a specific USB port is always the one showing the problem, the port itself may be failing.
