Lenovo Lynx in-depth tablet review (frequently updated)

Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx K3011 Review

To begin with, some photos of the Lynx compared to an iPad (retina display) and a Samsung Galaxy Note 2:

(I used The Verge website as the primary test/display page for most of these photos, primarily because it is a  modern site ideal for pushing the limits on these types of mobile devices… the other site used is jdhodges.com as it presents a lighter usage scenario)

Pros of the Lynx

  • Compatible with legacy Windows (x86) applications
    • i.e. you can run anything on this that a standard Windows PC/laptop can run 🙂
  • Charges via standard micro-usb!
    • Super handy when traveling, though make sure your charger puts out enough juice
  • Lightweight
  • Decent amount of built in storage (64GB) and easily expandable via MicroSD
  • Good battery life
  • Very fast sleep/resume (instantaneous)
  • Good display quality
  • Fairly good build quality

Cons of the Lynx

  • No built in SD card reader (but does at least have MicroSD for expansion)
    • Makes it much more difficult to download photos from a DSLR etc.
  • Widescreen format is not ideal for surfing the web
  • Wide size makes it more difficult to hold than an iPad
  • Sluggish during strenuous activity (3rd/4th gen iPads are faster when surfing the web etc. on complex pages)
  • No full size USB ports (have to use dongle to convert microusb to full size)
  • Slow CPU (Intel Atom)

Rating so far: 3.7 out of 5
