Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro display blanks when on battery?! [SOLVED]

Q. When I unplug my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro from the wall the screen goes blank. When I plug it back in the screen comes on. Unplug it and it goes off again?! How do I fix this! -Terri

A. Hi Terri, your display brightness may be set to zero for ‘battery’ mode. Please try pressing your brightness+ key (it looks like a little sun with a plus sign and it is shared with the F6 function key) and see if that gets the display back on for you 🙂

Followup from Terri: OMG that fixed it! Thanks for the quick work!!!

I am having the opposite problem. My screen goes blank as soon as I plug in the wall charger. If I allow it to charge and then unplug it, it comes back on fine. I cannot, however, use it while charging. Any ideas? I tried the F6 brightess= key but no luck.

Sorry for the late reply, Kristin! That’s an interesting flip of the usual problem. I haven’t seen that specific behavior (blanking when plugged in rather than when unplugged) so I can’t say for certain what’s causing it. It could be a driver issue or a power profile conflict. I’d try updating the Intel display driver and checking the power plan settings in the Lenovo power management software if it’s installed.

I have the same issue was your issue resolver

Hey David, yes, for the original issue described in the post (screen going blank when on battery) the fix was the brightness key. Try pressing Fn+F6 or the brightness+ key and see if that brings your display back. Hope that helps!
