RTX 5080 vs. RTX 3090: Is It Time to Upgrade in 2026?

Is the Upgrade Actually Worth It? The internet loves a clean upgrade narrative: Old card bad, new card good, spend money. But the reality of the NVIDIA RTX 5080 era is messier and more interesting. If you are currently rocking an RTX 3090, you’re still packing serious heat. That card remains a 24GB monster. The big question: Is the 5080 a meaningful leap forward, or just high-end hardware FOMO? Let’s break down the data. Raw Gaming Performance: Faster, but is

AMD APU (CPU+GPU) Review: From 7840U to the Monster “Strix Halo” 395 AI Max+

I’ve been getting some comments lately about the current state of AMD’s mobile processors. It’s a bit of a jungle out there with the naming schemes (looking at you, AMD marketing department šŸ˜‰), so I wanted to put together a guide as I regularly use these CPUs/APUs in my daily work. Specifically, we are looking at the evolution from the popular “Thin & Light” 7840U (like in my trusty T14) all the way up to the beast, the Ryzen AI

AMD Ryzen 3700X (Desktop) vs AMD Z1 Extreme (Ally portable)

Hands-On Experience: Ryzen 3700X Triumphs in Handbrake Encoding Over Asus ROG Ally’s Z1 Extreme CPU While compressing some video recently, I conducted a hands-on test to compare two contenders in my personal collection: my trusty desktop PC powered by an AMD Ryzen 3700X CPU (released in 2019 almost 5 years old!), and the compact portable powerhouse, the Asus ROG Ally mini gaming system (released 2023), equipped with an AMD Z1 Extreme CPU. The battlefield chosen for this performance duel was

Best Ethereum mining GPU [Sep 20th, 2016]

Currently, as of September 20th 2016, the bestĀ GPU for mining Ethereum is the AMD RX 480. The criteria are cost, hashrate (in MH/s) and power usage. My current top pick is the Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 480 8GB model with 1342 Mhz core clock speed, for approx 27-29MH/s. At current rates this $279 card should mine about $750 USD of Ethereum a year. 4GB or 8GB? 4GB models of the RX 480 offer a lower initial cost, but resale value

I’m powering it with a DC power brick (part number 316688-001 or spare 317188-001) from either a beefy HP laptop or possibly a docking station. The specs are 18.5v, 6.5a, 120 watts.

Does AMD’s AM1 platform support triple monitors natively? No.

Kabini only supports two simultaneous displays If you plan on using AMD new’s AM1 platform with a Kabini Athlon or Sempron, be aware that triple display output is not supported. I tried it on my MSI AM1I motherboard just to make sure and sadly only two outputs were usable at a timeĀ šŸ™ So even if your motherboard has DVI + HDMI + VGA, like mine does, you can only utilize TWO of those outputs at once. Not three. Kind of
