How many external displays does the new 2021 24″ M1 iMac support? [ANSWERED]

*emphasis added on “a” (single) display… not plural…

This is disappointing, but it parallels the limit on the M1 based Macbooks which only natively support one external display 🙁 I have tested this on my own M1 based machine and only one display works even if you use a Thunderbolt dock.
Some people add more monitors by using USB-C displaylink adapters/docks but hopefully Apple will remedy these issues when they release their “Pro” models with native external multi-monitor (dual, triple, quad) support. 🙂

We actually got one of these M1 iMacs in yesterday from Apple. Tried to set up the additional 2 monitors for hours then I got on chat with Apple Support. Wow how disappointing to find out it’s limited to one only! I even tried what you did as in one of the adapters that has the 2 hdmis only one monitor would light up. So now we are getting a refurb 27” Intel i7 from Apple. This is only because the new MacBook Pro 2021 16” he’s not happy with. Said it’s choppy performance wise? Ugh..hopefully Apple will approve payment for FedEx to come pick this up since the salesman knew what we needed and didn’t check the specs.
