How to get scannable 1099 forms from the IRS
Do you need a scannable 1099-MISC or similar* tax form from the IRS?
*NOTE: while most tax forms are downloadable, for certain forms the IRS requires a scannable form that must be ordered.
Thankfully, the IRS offers a simple service where you can order the forms for free and receive them within ten business days. You can find the order form here:

It just takes a minute to fill out the order info; then you will get a confirmation like this:

Ordered from the IRS 1099 Misc and 1096 Annual Summary on Jan 2nd, 2019. As of today, 1/28/2019 have NOT received. Now what?
Hey Charlotte, the IRS says “within 10 business days” but January is a high-volume period and they sometimes run behind. I’d give it until mid-February before escalating. If they still haven’t arrived, you can call the IRS forms line at 1-800-829-3676 to check on your order status. You can also try reordering, duplicate sets aren’t a problem, and you can just use one and discard the other.
