Pixel 8 Pro does NOT support HDMI/DisplayPort out over USB-C

I just tested my Google Pixel 8 Pro and sadly it does not (as of November 2nd 2023) support display out over USB-C. πŸ™ πŸ‘Ž This is a bummer as I had hoped to use USB-C adapters/docks to output to HDMI for utilizing LCD TV’s for work while traveling. Therefore, I will be taking my S23 Ultra as a backup phone and it does nicely support display out (and Dex with touchpad emulation etc.) So, dear Google, please add this

Recently I needed to create a Google Calendar reminder that repeats on the 1st day of each month. πŸ“… Initially, it was slightly confusing how to do this. Therefore, once I figured it out, I wanted to share the tip in case other people had similar issues: Finally, you have a reminder that will occur on the first day of each month! Nokia 9 PureView camera sample photos vs. Gcam vs. Pixel 3

I have been loving the Nokia 9 PureView for photography. Specifically, it has been fun comparing it against my previous favorite (the Pixel 3 / Pixel 3 XL). What is even more fun is that Google’s Gcam works on the PureView! Some readers asked for sample photos and comparisons, so I will be posting them here: πŸ™‚ (full size image) (full size image) (full size image) (full size image) RAW DNG processing in Adobe Camera Raw (for Windows) NOTE: Using

Gcam for Nokia 9 PureView [WORKING!] (Night Sight, Portrait mode, HDR+)

The Nokia 9 PureView has a rather complex camera arrangement that produces excellent results. However, Google Pixel Camera app (or Gcam as it is sometimes referred to) still has its advantages. Mainly, superb low light performance and a punchier looking image without additional processing. Thankfully, there are a number of helpful modders out there who produce Gcam APKs that work with many modern phones. The Nokia 9 PureView is no exception! I tried a ton of APKs: So far, the

Family and fishing photos with the Google Pixel XL

The Google Pixel XL is a simply amazing photographic device when it comes to quickly capturing the moment. The following three photos showcase some very difficult lighting scenarios which the Pixel handles with aplomb. The sky, water, and people are all in focus and well exposed with minimal blown highlights and shadow depth is retained as well. The first two family photos have a filter applied for punchier color, the last fishing photo is straight out of the camera and

Google Find My Phone (even if Device Unavailable)

Google has been adding more action oriented features to their engine. One of the most useful is “find my phone”. If you have an Android phone you can try finding it here: https://www.google.com/search?q=find+my+phone Also, even if the map/screen says “Device Unavailable” you may still be able to “Ring” the phone… this will ring the phone for 5 minutes and thisΒ is exactly what I did this morning to find my phone (which was hiding in the covers) ;-).

Link AdSense with Google Analytics [HOWTO]

One of my favorite features of Google Analytics is the ability to see which web pages are generating the most AdSense revenue. However, before this option is enabled for reporting, you must link your two accounts: AdSense -> Admin -> Property -> AdSense Linking After you click that link and complete the steps, you should have a plethora of new AdSense data to look through! πŸ™‚
