Recommended extended battery for Galaxy Note 2 (6,200mAh)
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a powerhouse of a phone and unlike some of its competitors (cough Apple iPhone, cough HTC One) it has a removable battery. That means users are free to install 3rd party batteries, including EXTENDED batteries!
Over the past weeks I have been testing the Hyperion 6,200mAh extended battery on a U.S. Cellular SGN2. Performance/longevity have been excellent, I can leave bluetooth, GPS, wifi and cellular on all day with heavy usage (including music/movie playback and wireless file transfers) as well as setting the display to full brightness (w/5 min backlight timeout set) and still have plenty of juice left (usually 60% or so left) at the end of the day. This means that the phone will generally last at least two days with heavy usage and potentially much more with lighter usage.
I have used other Hyperion brand extended batteries in the past with good success, they are generally high-quality battereis and well manufactured with good fit and finish. This particular battery is no exception and it is generally available for about $18 on Amazon. Here are some photos to give you an idea what the battery and replacement back cover look like:
Pros:
- low cast (<$20 USD)
- significant increase in phone runtime
- good customer service
- nice quality backplate/backcover
Cons:
- adds significant bulk
- there are not many cases available for SGN2 with extended battery
Overall I rate this extended battery 4.5 out of 5 stars.
