MP3 Music on Google Drive

While Google Play’s music service allows for 20,000 songs to be uploaded, their Google Drive service can potentially allow for much more. 1TB = 1048576MB / 6MB per song = 174,762 songs. I use the 1TB amount as an example because anyone that purchases a Google Chromebook Pixel is going to have that amount of storage space for 3 years. Likewise, even lower-end Chromebooks get  100GB in Google Drive Space = 102,400MB / 3MB = 34,133 songs if you are willing to

Disable RAW transfer to iPad when using Eye-Fi

The Eye-Fi is a great match when paired with an iPad. My wife uses her Olympus XZ-1 with an iPad 3 (or ‘New iPad’) and the combination is quite capable 🙂 However, by default if you shoot RAW+JPEG the Eye-Fi will transfer both to the iPad. This is a bit overkill for our purposes, since if we are going to edit RAW we are going to do it on a full blown laptop or desktop PC rather than an iPad. It

Permalink Updates on WordPress

For a very long time this post’s permalink URL would have been: http://www.jdhodges.com/2013/07/permalink-updating-wordpress/ But now it is: http://www.jdhodges.com/blog/permalink-updating-wordpress/ I made this adjustment primarily because an old URL like this one: http://www.jdhodges.com/2012/05/exede-wildblue-satellite-internet-review/ Even if the actual content was updated the URL made it look like it was only updated in 2012. The new permalink structure is shorter and more relevant, so far I love it! 🙂 However, one should exercise caution when doing this type of update as it can wreak

Using a DSLR with Instagram

After getting an Eye-Fi for Christmas, this week I am finally putting it to the test! What better way to utilize the card than to make a higher-end camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or bridge camera) easily compatible with Instagram. 🙂 Here are two links to get us started: Useful Photography Tip #19: Partner Eye-Fi Mobile With Instagram for Sharper, Funner Photoshttp://www.thephoblographer.com/2012/04/21/useful-photography-tip-19-partner-eye-fi-mobile-with-instagram-for-sharper-funner-photos/Instagram is an extremely fun app to use that promote social photo sharing and has a major emphasis on simplicity. SE39UY04 4K LCD review and Accell Adaper

I just ordered a 39″ 4K display from Amazon and will be posting a full review once it arrives. Until then, here is the download full manual in PDF format: (dl link) I am very intrigued to see how this display performs when connected to a PC and used as a high-resolution monitor. The $699 price makes it particular interesting when compared to >$1K 30″ 2560×1600 displays from Dell etc. Seiki Digital SE39UY04 39-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz LED TV
