Intel Centrino 6235 or 7260 Bluetooth not detected by Windows [SOLVED]

I came across an interesting tip today: […] Samsung RC530 and a 7260.HMWWB. Bluetooth can’t be activated on some notebooks, so you need to activate it manually with a hardware “hack”. Just get some Scotch Tape / Sellotape (in german “Tesafilm”) and stick it on pin #51 (picture). Put the card back in the PCIe slot and have fun . Work laptops for 2013

I recently dropped my Dell Latitude E6430. This was a pretty serious drop onto some pavement and while the laptop still works, it has a rather large dent in it. 🙁 I have had a few previous issues with the laptop, mainly software related (Intel wifi driver issues, occasional lockups) so with the new dent being the final straw, it is now time for a new laptop 😉 Here are a few I considered: (dimensions/weight courtesy of notebookcheck.net) E6530 35

Motorola OTA update for Photon (DETAILS)

Today I received a notification from Motorola about the availability of an OTA (over the air) update for my Photon. Down below you can find the full details.  But first, three important notes: If you have your Photon rooted, reports are that this update removes root. 🙁 There is no mention of a fix for the no-audio problem on Lapdock 500 etc. when using the phone as a WebTop 🙁 This does not update the Photon to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) 🙁 Details

Initial HughesNet HN9000 satellite internet speed test

Our new HughesNet install was completed on Thursday morning. We started with the Express 200 plan and  were very pleased with it. Today we called to have our plan upgraded to the Express 300 and it is even better 😉 Here are some speedtest results* *these results were done on an Android smartphone over a 1/2 mile wifi bridge that then connected to the internet via via HughesNet satellite internet [using an HN9000 modem, .98m dish and “Express 300” plan]

Upgrading a Dell M4400: Dual Hard Drives, 2.8GHz CPU, 4GB RAM

NOTE: you can also view all the entries in this Q & A series… The Dell M4400 has been my laptop of choice for almost a year. For my birthday I upgraded it to 4GB RAM (from 3GB) and swapped out the P8600 CPU for a T9700. The P8600 is a 2.4GHz dual core chip (25W) with 3MB cache, the T9700 is
