How to re-claim 100GB Google Drive space

Recently I purchased a LG G6 phone. The first time I opened Google Drive it offered me a free 2-year 100GB Google Drive promotion. I already pay for the 1TB a year plan for my account. However, my wife could certainly use the free 100GB. I actually already pay $1.99 a month for 100GB for her, so with the free plan I could cancel the paid plan and save almost $48 over the course of 2 years.

Therefore, I promptly canceled out of the 100GB promotion for my account and added her Google account to my phone. Next I loaded Google Drive but the promotion was initially nowhere to be found. 🙁

Thankfully, after a bit of looking around in the menus I was finally able to redeem the 100GB for 2-year promo for my wife’s Google Account. 🙂

Here are the steps!

  1. Open the Google Drive app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Scroll all the way down to “Product Tour”
  4. Swipe through all the Tour pages
  5. The offer should appear after the last page of the Tour!

My wife has been enjoying the free space and it is my hope that this guide helps you too 🙂

I had the same with LG G5. What I did was uninstall the update of Google Drive on my phone and reinstall it back again. Upon launching it there was a tutorial after which it offered the 100GB promo, which I had previously ignored.
