AT&T is down in Salem MO today 🙁 It is definitely affecting cell phones and also seems to be internet/DSL/land-lines, bummer! This is wreaking havoc with a lot of people and businesses. Example: Subway cannot accept credit card orders b/c their line is down. Thankfully, Verizon and other internet providers are still up 🙂
I am on a business trip to upgrade servers at Weblogs.us. The servers are located in Tulsa OK, but for tonight I stopped in Joplin MO along the way. Priceline negotiator got me a room for $42 plus tax at the Best Western Oasis. 🙂 That price is nice but internet is a big part of my work so I always try to evaluate the network speeds where I stay. So far I’d give them a C+ but speedtest.net rates

I was pleasantly surprised to read this: [M]any people assume that all ISPs are part of the agreement. However, this is certainly not the case. In fact, only five Internet providers have agreed to send out warnings to their customers. Here are some daily Exede internet speedtest results, I will continue periodically posting results to this same page. Please be aware that these are not necessarily ‘real world’ results… I generally find that real world raw downloads and uploads surpass these results. As a current WildBlue subscriber-living way off the grid-I am particularly interested in their new ViaSat-1 satellite and the faster speeds / enhanced capabilities that it will provide.
