Recently I was asked “what is the ideal walkaround micro four-thirds camera lens?”. Of course the answer varies by the style and taste of the individual photographer, but for me the ideal walkabout lens is the Olympus 17mm f1.8 prime lens (34mm equivelant). Q. I cant get the Olympus 12-40mm lens to auto focus all of a sudden? Any quick tips? -Sam A. There is a ‘manual focusing clutch’ mechanism on the lens that might have gotten bumped. “This model is equipped with the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism, which makes instant switching to manual focus possible by pulling the focusing ring toward you. ” Source: Olympus Asia So check if that got pulled back (you should just be able to push it forward). 🙂
The Olympus E-M1 is an amazing photographic tool, so what makes it even better? This camera can withstand the elements! Here is southern Missouri we generally do not get much snow but the past couple days left us with nearly a foot of snow. Of course that meant it was time to test the E-M1’s weatherproofing. This review of the X100 comes at an odd time, years after its initial release and in the face of many new competitors. Today you can pick up an Olympus E-PL5 and 17mm F1.8 lens for a price that is in the same ballpark as an X100. That makes for some pretty tough competition. This review would read a lot differently if this were 2011, but time marches on and this is my view as of Dec 2013! 🙂 This
