Synology DiskStation not accessible after Windows upgrade

Recently my Synology DS1813 was no longer accessible after a Windows upgrade and a power failure. For some reason SMB/SAMBA v1 seemed to not be working (even though I believe I had enabled legacy SAMBA support in Windows 10 and 11). The solution for me was to check the following option in the NAS’s web based DS Control Panel: Control Panel -> File Sharing and Privileges -> Win/Mac/NFS -> Enable SMB 2 and Large MTU -> Apply

Google Docs Export to PDF are HUGE now?!

Recently when exporting Google Docs pages to a PDF my file sizes have increased from 2-3mb to 20+mb πŸ™ It seems to be related to including photos in the Doc but there do not appear to be any solutions from Google. They made some server size change because the EXACT same files now export over 10x larger. Currently, I am using https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf to compress the PDF output. It works but it adds a lot of steps to my workflow. More

Pixel 8 Pro does NOT support HDMI/DisplayPort out over USB-C

I just tested my Google Pixel 8 Pro and sadly it does not (as of November 2nd 2023) support display out over USB-C. πŸ™ πŸ‘Ž This is a bummer as I had hoped to use USB-C adapters/docks to output to HDMI for utilizing LCD TV’s for work while traveling. Therefore, I will be taking my S23 Ultra as a backup phone and it does nicely support display out (and Dex with touchpad emulation etc.) So, dear Google, please add this
