2.1 Speaker Roundup! Beatbox vs. Tango TRX vs. Rockus

This is a review of three sound systems I have had the pleasure of listening to at home and in the shop:

Antec Soundscience Rockus 2.1

Price: $99-$181 at Amazon

Review rating: 3.75/5 stars

Pros: Good sound and great bass.

Cons: Bulky compared to the others, no built-in wireless connections, no built in charging, not as high-fidelity as the Beatbox,  more cable tangle to deal with. No remote control

Summary: Pricing varies widely, but a good deal at $99 and ideal for game/action-movie enthusiasts that want a nice PC audio upgrade 🙂 Not so good for minimalists that want amazing sound without a plethora of cables.

XtremeMac Tango TRX

Review rating: 4/5 stars

Price: $99-$110 at WalMart or Amazon

Pros: suprisingly good sound and very nice connectivity options. Full featured remote control.

Cons: not nearly as loud as the Beatbox and a little flatter

Summary: a good deal for the price and my top choice if you do not listen to music at LOUD volumes and do not need to fill a large room with sound

Beats Audio Beatbox

My rating: 4.25/5 stars

Price: $285-$349 at Amazon

Pros: amazing sound for this form factor, cool/sleek design, basic remote control

Cons: expensive, no wireless connectivity

Summary: if you want the best sound, get these! 🙂

4/5 stars [starreview tpl=16]

Winner: Beatbox (but not by as much as you might expect)

Full Review: to be updated with photos and more details, so post if you have any questions you would like addressed!
