Recently I tried using a nice Olympus FL600R flash on the hotshoe of my wife’s trusty XZ-1. Things were initially a no go, the camera would not fire the flash nor were any other commands/communication registered by the flash 🙁 Thankfully I got my FL600R to work with by downloading the latest XZ-1 firmware version: (link to OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater) Screenshots of the firmware update process NOTE: requires the XZ-1’s USB cable to be connected to your computer) 🙂

The Eye-Fi is a great match when paired with an iPad. My wife uses her Olympus XZ-1 with an iPad 3 (or ‘New iPad’) and the combination is quite capable 🙂 However, by default if you shoot RAW+JPEG the Eye-Fi will transfer both to the iPad. This is a bit overkill for our purposes, since if we are going to edit RAW we are going to do it on a full blown laptop or desktop PC rather than an iPad. It
UPDATE: 2012.12.02 Some users are reporting an issue where Facebook still displays the ‘Make Cover Album’ as shown in these instructions, but it is not selectable. This appears to be a bug in Facebook, or that perhaps they are disabling the feature but haven’t remove the option 🙁 It is rather absurd how many times Facebook has messed with this rather simple option and how much grief they have caused their users!
