Question from Kasey:

Hiya. Recently tried to return some items to Target without a receipt and they said I exceeded my return limit? What does that mean?

Answer from JD:

I asked the return desk at our local Target and they said that without a receipt  Target has a 12 month $70 return policy limit. So, without receipts you can only return $70 worth of stuff  during a 12 month time period :-( They enforce this limit by checking your drivers license to verify who you are.

Returns without a receipt will likely only receive a Target gift card / store credit (not cash).

Finally, if you have the credit card that you purchased an item with they can likely look it up by the credit card number even without the receipt and then you will not be subject to the $70 limit…

I hope this info helps answer your question!

PS please rate my answer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars if you get the chance, thanks :-)

Followup response from Kasey:

Thx for the info! You were right so I asked my hubby to return it and he used his drivers license and it was no problem since he was at $0 on the return limit to start with. We got full store credit for all of the items!!! Now I just have to wait another while for my limit to reset before I can return items again myself if I don’t have the receipt… I give your answer 5 stars, thx!
